Benjamin Brochstein

Traditional Reiki Training

Houston’s only member of the Reiki Alliance

Benjamin Brochstein has practiced Reiki since 1990.  His level I and II attunements were performed in 1990 by Reiki Alliance member, Carrlyn Haring Clay in Scottsdale Arizona.  In 1995 Brochstein received attunement to the teaching degree from Judith Morrow and Emily Laurel, in Houston, Texas.  In 1996 he and Emily Laurel arranged to bring International Center for Reiki Training Master Teacher and noted author, William Lee Rand of Reiki.org to Houston for additional Master training and to compare attunement techniques of various disciplines.  In 1999 Brochstein contacted Carrlyn Clay and began the internship process necessary to be qualified to join the Reiki Alliance.  He completed the commitment in 2000 and traveled to Japan that year to investigate Reiki’s origins and current Japanese Reiki practice.   In 2004 he attended the International Reiki Alliance Conference in Chile and is currently the only member of the Reiki Alliance in Houston, Texas.

The Reiki Alliance was formed when the 22 Masters trained to teach Reiki by Hawayo Takata met to honor her memory on the first anniversary of her death.  The Alliance is spiritually lead by Takata’s granddaughter, Phyllis Furumoto and has a current membership of over 700 members in 45 countries.

Though not presently active, Benjamin Brochstein maintains a current license to practice law in Texas, a cherished privilege.  He teaches Yoga at the Boustany Hatha Yoga Studios and the Houston Country Club.  Formerly, he practiced Public Accounting with Arthur Andersen in Houston; practiced general civil litigation; and worked as a database designer, programmer and administrator for Architectural Woodwork Corp.  He is active in the local private equity market, especially fond of genome tool related technologies.  Brochstein is a Governing Director of the Houston Symphony Society since 1996, and is Chairman (again!) of the Law Practice Management Section of the Houston Bar Association for 2004-2005.
